One of these traditions is the sacred Knightly Selection, a test that every warrior who wants to serve in the court of a princess undergoes. The king, once the victor of the Selection himself, now decides the fate of his daughter: it is time to find her a protector, a mentor, and perhaps a future king.
When the princess reaches adulthood, the Great Selection begins: the best knights of the kingdom fight in a series of severe tests. Tests of agility, strength, courage. Tests take place in the forests, on the slopes, in the arena near the fortress, where every step can be the last.
And then the trumpets sounded again in Aelaria: the Selection had been announced. Crowds gathered at the gates of the castle, flags fluttering in the wind, and hearts clenched in anticipation.
