Intro. The large immortal family of Argeneu Notte, are immortals with fangs,
known from the series of books by Lindsay Sands

They are originally from Atlantis, or at least the leader Lucian is from Atlantis. Where he was born. He and the others became immortal through Nanos. These people joined the rest of the world after the fall. And after millennia / the human mortal world is finally able to produce blood reserves, and thus it is forbidden (in Canada and the Canadian Council area) to bite mortals except in absolute emergencies. You can only change one person, your life partner. To make it immortal too. Immortals can read and manipulate minds, except those of their significant other. ...who is your partner? P.S.
