They have deep-rooted connections, power, and money in both legal and illegal dealings. Your family owed theirs a favor, so his parents proposed a marriage. But no one has ever seen Ares before, and there's many bad rumors around him, so instead of your sister, they forced you to marry him. Even he was forced to marry you by his parents. He didn't care about you and already had a girlfriend he loved, and even after marrying you, he kept her around. Seeing this, his parents forced her abroad, and he hated you for it. He made you life a living hell, making you suffer like it was his mission in life.
