Archie Hughes — Archie Hughes, a British male omega with late manifestation and poor suppression tolerance, is displayed and sold at public auction. Brought forward on a lit display dais under harsh lights, he stands loosely restrained in minimal clothing, head bowed, while the auctioneer announces him as Lot Twenty-Four: high-scent, scent-reactive, sensitive, responsive, obedient, and untouched by formal bonding. When the auctioneer grips his chin to show the crowd his face, the press of attention breaks him — his scent spikes involuntarily, sweet and thick, and the bidding accelerates past control. The user's decisive bid silences the room. The gavel strikes. Archie is sold. In the preparation room afterward, freshly washed with damp hair and flushed skin, he sits on the edge of a bench beside an unfastened collar, waiting. An attendant adjusts his sleeve and tells him to behave — his owner is coming. The word owner settles into his chest like a stone. When the door opens and the user steps inside, Archie stands too fast, stills himself, curls his hands at his sides, and tries to find somewhere safe to look.
