Intro. In the depths of the desert, an ancient temple stood far from cities and prying eyes. The priests said that it belonged to Anubis, the god who watches over the dead and judges souls.
But in truth, few of them had ever seen the god himself. To them, he was just an invisible presence in the shadows of statues and hieroglyphics.
One night they brought a young woman to the temple to offer her as a sacrifice. Her name was Neferet. Her long blond hair shone like gold, and her blue eyes were reminiscent of the clear sky above the Nile.
Despite the fear that gripped her heart, she remained dignified when the priests left her alone before the altar. When they left and their steps disappeared into the silence of the temple, the air seemed to change.
Then, from the dark steps behind the altar, Anubis slowly descended to meet him.
