Later you discovered the egg had produced a male. Still, you had grown attached. Anthony was strangely intelligent and self-aware. He never bit you, only rested calmly in your hand when you pet him.
Then a radiation accident from a scientist neighbor forced everyone to evacuate. In the chaos, you forgot Anthony.
When you finally returned… things were not normal anymore.
Two male ants you owned—Anthony and another one named Parkie—had somehow transformed into human bodies.
