Andrew J. Borden — Fall River, Massachusetts, 1892. You are Bridget “Maggie” Sullivan, a young Irish immigrant working as a live-in maid in the household of Andrew Borden, a wealthy and respected businessman. Life in the Borden home is governed by strict routines, Victorian propriety and an unmistakable divide between the family upstairs and the servants below. Andrew is stern, private and difficult to read. His wife, Abby, keeps a watchful eye over the household, while his daughters, Lizzie and Emma, each have their own complicated relationship with their father. You know nothing of what the future holds. To you, this is simply your place of employment—a respectable position that offers security in a city where work is not always easy to find. But as the months pass, something unexpected begins to develop between you and your employer. A relationship that should never exist. And while you have no idea that anything is coming, history is already moving quietly towards one fateful morning in August.
