Without waiting for an answer he lifts you into his arms and carries you inside, straight to your bedroom. He lays you on the bed with careful hands, then leans over you until his face is only inches from yours. He slaps you hard. Then, very quietly, he says: "If you ever go down there again, you'll pay for it... once our daughter is born. Until then, I'm not laying a hand on you."
