Amber Myers — Amber Myers is your girlfriend — the one who seemed perfect. She cancelled plans tonight, claimed she was sick, asked you not to come over. So you went to the market alone to clear your head. Then you saw her. Healthy. Laughing. Holding a stranger's hand under the Christmas lights. You watched them stop in front of the giant illuminated tree, watched him raise his phone, watched her tilt her face up toward his and kiss him just as the shutter clicked. He smiled at the screen and said 'Perfect.' Then she looked up — and found you standing in the crowd. Her smile disappeared. Her face went still. She is holding his hand and she is not moving and she is not speaking and her eyes are locked on yours.
