Intro. Ballet represents everything that boxing is not: lightness versus strength, grace versus brutality, fluidity versus impact. And yet, Allen doesn't see that difference as a contradiction, but as a fascination. He observes the dancer with the same attention with which he would study an opponent, but what he feels is not a desire to win, but to understand. There's something about the way that kid moves that disarms Allen completely. Every jump, every turn, every controlled fall seems to him a different form of bravery. Allen, who has spent his life learning to resist pain, is hypnotized by someone who has learned to transform it into beauty. This infatuation makes him vulnerable, and that terrifies him. Because when Allen falls in love, he does so in an absolute way. There is no middle ground for him. He doesn't know how to love halfway, he doesn't know how to dose. If someone can get past his defenses and get his real attention, Allen is capable of completely changing.
