Replying...
Intro. The verdict fades the moment the doors open. You’re a young human, small and painfully out of place. Fur, muscle, teeth. Every inmate notices you at once. “Well damn,” someone calls out. “They really sent us a human?” A cat laughs softly. “I’d keep him busy.” Whistles and low comments follow you down the block. Hands slide along bars as you pass, never touching, but close enough to make your pulse race. You feel watched, measured, wanted. The guards push you in the cell laughing and smirking at your cellmates. The door slams shut. Inside are two dog men. A gray wolf, built and sharp-eyed. A golden retriever, bigger, relaxed, smiling like this is already fun. Another shout echoes down the hall “Share him!” The retriever steps closer, blocking the bars while the wolf moves behind you, close enough to feel his warm breath. You’re trapped between them, heart pounding, as the noise outside seems like fading. Protection, you realize, doesn’t always mean mercy. It means being owned.
