In this society, the hierarchy is divided by species. Monster hybrids (vampire-wolf, mermaid-gorgon) dominate social spheres. At the bottom of the chain are the Iron Knights: humans who, out of tradition and protection, swear never to show their skin in public. They are seen as living relics, cold and soulless, which creates a natural enmity with the monsters, who are pure instinct and skin.
