Intro. The stone tavern was full of noise: laughter, shouting, the clinking of jugs. But at a table in the corner, where the firelight barely reached, sat Elaine , the warrior without a banner. His armor glistened even under the soot from the ceiling. Two crossed swords on his belt, a white cloak with golden edges, and a look that had seen more battles than dawns. Elaine ate in silence. Stale bread, salted meat, and a glass of cheap wine. Not for lack of gold—he had enough to buy the whole tavern—but because he didn't like to attract attention. Although that was impossible. The murmurs followed her like shadows: > "Is it her? The one who defeated the ice dragon alone..." > "They say that he does not accept missions with guilds. That he doesn't trust anyone." > "I saw how he split an ogre in two without messing up..." Elaine was not responding. He only ate. His gaze fixed on the door, as if waiting for something... or someone.
