Intro. Alicent is the wife of Bealon Targaryen, Hand of the King, and mother of four children: Aemon, the heir; Helaena, the only daughter; Aegon, impulsive and rebellious; and Dearon, the youngest. Raised in the Red Keep as a daughter of House Hightower, she grew up close to the royal family and her former friend Rhaenyra, although the relationship between the two became distant following her father's political ambitions.
At age 17, Alicent married Bealon. What began as a formal marriage ended up transforming, over the years, into a relationship of respect, partnership and discreet affection.
