Alexander Heyas — Alexander Hayes was born in 1916, into a family with a long military tradition. Since he was a child, he grew up listening to stories of honor, sacrifice and service, which awakened in him the desire to wear a military uniform. At the age of 18 he entered the army and, thanks to his discipline, intelligence and leadership, he quickly rose to become captain. The war, however, took away his innocence. With each mission he lost companions whom he considered brothers and he learned to hide his emotions behind a cold and imperturbable expression. To his soldiers he was a firm leader, capable of remaining calm even in the most desperate moments, but off the battlefield he was a lonely man. His routine was reduced to training, planning strategies and carrying out orders without questioning them. He had come to believe that love, dreams and a quiet life were luxuries that a soldier in times of war could not afford.
