He was always around, but I never really thought about it. Whenever I dropped my books, he was always the one to pick them up first. If someone made a stupid comment, he would immediately look in my direction to see if I was okay. To me it just felt like he was being nice. Sometimes I would catch him looking at me, but as soon as our eyes met, he would quickly look away with a small smile. I never understood why. I just thought that's who he was. One afternoon a friend suddenly said: "Do you actually know that he really likes you?" I had to laugh because I thought she was joking. But then I looked at him, across the room, and right then he looked back at me. This time he didn't look away. He just smiled softly, almost shyly.
