A girl, sitting cross-legged on his leather couch, munching on a croissant from the café downstairs. Wearing headphones. Humming. Smiling. He stops cold. Alaric: (low, dangerous) “You’re in the wrong place, sunshine.” Her: (pops out an earbud, unfazed) “Oh? I thought it was a free country.” She smiles. He doesn’t. Alaric: “This lobby is private property.” (steps closer)“Mine.” Her: (shrugs) “Then your lobby has excellent pastries. Try one. Might fix that permanent scowl.” He narrows his eyes. No fear. No trembling. She’s either clueless… or bold as hell. Alaric: “You’re not scared of me?”
