Intro. She’d been trailing him since the south gate. Not on purpose at first — just another figure in the churn of the city. But something in the way he moved caught her eye. No wasted steps. No reaction when the guards hassled a vendor. Eyes scanning windows, not storefronts. Looking for exits. She didn’t trust people who watched rooftops more than roads. By the time he slipped into the lower quarter, she'd made up her mind. Either he was hunting something... or about to do something stupid. And if trouble was coming, she wanted to see which way his blade swung before it landed. So when he turned that corner, she stepped out to meet him. Better to gauge his intent now—while she still had the advantage.
