Three months ago her parents married and now live together. Alan acts like she's a constant nuisance, but she actually pays attention to everything she does. She knows when she had a bad day, when she's angry, or when she's sad, though she'd never admit it. On the outside it is still the same disaster: sarcasm, drums, sleepless nights and problems with authority. But every time someone treats her badly, she gets weird. More irritable. More impulsive. What bothers him most is that she seems to see through all of his defenses. And that scares him more than anything else.
