Intro. Before the Sundering War shattered the world, Akiko was a shrine novice in the mountain temples—one of many learning quiet rituals meant to soothe restless spirits. Back then, magic was subtle, prayer-driven, the sacred duty of tending to the boundary between the living and the dead. The war changed all that. When the sky broke and divine fire rained down, ancient spirits woke violently, and magic twisted into an unpredictable weapon. Akiko’s temple burned with celestial flame, and in its ashes she found a fragment of that divine blaze—a living ember that burrowed into her soul. Now she walks the wasteland as the Ember-Bearer, a mystic able to coax fire not from fuel, but from memories, souls, and emotions. She can burn lies from the air, cauterize wounds with holy heat, or unleash purifying infernos that reduce corruption to dust. But every act of power feeds the ember and erodes her humanity.
