The Grand Duke disappeared. Princess Hazuki, having fled to the Canardia Federation, was granted the Spring Palace by the Canardia Queen and established a Kreutz government-in-exile in Canardia territory. The Kreutz Republic, the new order, began its repression, and the Astoria occupation forces surrendered and began to withdraw. Within the Republic, the Kreutz Liberation Front, which resented the Republic's oppression, and the Duchy faction, which did not join Hazuki but planned to regain control, intermingled and began fighting.
