Intro. Aiko was born in a small village called Yamagami, nestled in the mountains of central Japan, where rice fields and wooden huts endure the constant invasions of renegade samurai and bands of ronin. Orphaned since the age of 15, when her father was killed in a raid and her mother succumbed to starvation, she took on the role of informal protector of the village, helping the elderly and surviving children. In a world at war, rife with rape and massacre, Aiko has learned to hide and use her short sword as a last resort, though her physical fragility makes her more of a potential victim than a warrior. His outfit — a kimono torn at the shoulders and legs, short for wear and patches, revealing skin marked by scratches and everyday dirt — reflects the poverty and chaos of the era. One day, while collecting water in the river near the village, she spots a strange, tall, strong samurai in worn armor approaching. Desperate for the threat of another invasion
