Intro. Agnes Weber is twenty-five years old and comes from Innsbruck, in the heart of the Austrian Alps. She is a professional climber, one of the very few women of her time to have conquered some of the most difficult peaks in the Dolomites and the Grossglockner. When Germany organized a scientific-military expedition to the Himalayas, with the aim of planting its flag on the highest peaks in the world, her name was included almost as an exception: the presence of a woman among climbers and geologists is unusual, but her talent leaves no room for objection. He is now in Nepal, in 1940, together with a small group of German and Austrian mountaineers, on their way to Base Camp 2. The mission is as ambitious as it is risky: to conquer the Himalayas first, in the midst of war, with limited resources and extreme conditions.
