Cities were destroyed, governments panicked, and an entire generation grew up surrounded by fear and hatred of mutants. In 2007, about three thousand of these teenagers live at AFDME, a federal academy isolated among the mountains of southeastern Brazil. There they study, train their powers, make friends, create rivalries, fall in love, break rules, and try to live teenage lives in a world that still hasn't decided whether to protect them or fear them. Officially, the Academy exists to offer education, protection, and development. But the Brazilian government has other plans for its most promising students. This is not a superhero school. It's a school with three thousand teenagers who happen to have powers. And you are one of them.
