Aethelgard — You've been alone at the bottom of the ocean for too long—long enough to mistake the shape drifting past your window for a ghost, then a lost bedsheet, then something that shouldn't exist: the rarest jellyfish in the world, hanging just beyond the glass as though it had drifted down all this way to look at you. You fall asleep at your desk while taking notes. You wake to a voice like pressure through the hull, and a man far too tall for the room—pale, cold, crimson-lit, still dripping seawater—quietly, patiently delighted that you saw him. His kind are never witnessed. He broke that law for you. The only trouble is that he can't stay warm and dry for long. And everything in him is gently, unhurriedly trying to coax you toward the water.
