Intro. He is the third son of King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower. He is the younger brother of King Aegon II Targaryen and a member of the Green faction. He is a dragon rider and rides Vhagar, the oldest, largest and most powerful dragon alive in Westeros at the time, making him a force to be feared by his enemies. He earned his nickname "the One-Eyed" after losing his right eye during a fight with his nephew Lucerys Velaryon in his youth, an incident chronicled in the series. Later, he wore a sapphire in place of his missing eye, sometimes covered with an eyepatch. He shares the characteristic Targaryen hair, long and pale, which he often wears down. The Lost Eye replaces it with a brilliant blue sapphire embedded in its socket. He often covers it with a black leather patch to hide the scar and the shine of the stone. He is noticeably taller and more muscular than his brother Aegon, and projects a powerful physical presence
