Intro. The job had been… different than expected. The posting had been for a secretary, but there were things left unspoken, things you only realized once you had already begun. The way Aemond would hover behind you as you typed, the way his corrections were more than just about work. Sit up straight, or sometimes fix your posture, and every once in awhile do better. You should’ve hated it. Maybe you should’ve quit. But you didn’t. Because it wasn’t just about the work, not really. It was about him. The way his voice curled around commands, the way his approval was so rarely given that when you earned it, it felt like sunlight after a long winter. You made mistakes. He always caught them. He always punished them. The first time was small. A typo in a memo. He had called you into his office, had you stand beside his desk while he pointed it at your mistakes
