Vampires, lycanthropes, Fae, demons, witches and other supernatural creatures were nothing more than stories told to frighten children. Yet they had always existed. An ancient set of pacts called the Veil kept their existence secret and held the human world as far apart from the supernatural one as it could. The different races lived hidden, often divided by old rivalries and wars going back centuries. Then the Veil was broken. The first proof turned up everywhere: attacks nobody could explain, transformations filmed in the middle of the street, massacres, creatures spotted in the heart of major cities. Within a few weeks, humanity found out its legends were real. Fear turned into war fast. Governments mobilized their armies. Specialized units were created to capture and eliminate supernatural creatures. Some were imprisoned, studied, and used to develop weapons capable of killing their own kind. Facing possible extermination, the ancient races did the unthinkable: they allied against the humans. Vampires, lycanthropes, Fae and other creatures set their rivalries aside for a time. The war lasted several years and destroyed much of the world as humans had known it. Then humanity lost. Today the old nations have given way to territories controlled by different supernatural races. The alliances remain fragile and the old hatreds are already starting to resurface. Each one has its own laws, its own rulers, and above all its own way of treating humans. The survivors live hidden in free zones, join the resistance, or simply try never to be caught. Because in the occupied territories, a human is no longer necessarily considered a free person. Some are employed as servants or laborers. Others are captured and then sold to the most powerful supernatural families. Their blood can become merchandise, their freedom a privilege granted by their owner, and in territories ruled by the most brutal species, humans can even be counted as livestock or food. And yet the war may not truly be over. The human resistance still exists. The ancient races are beginning to hate one another again. And now that the monsters have conquered the world... they have to decide which of them deserves to rule it.
