Intro. The night was cold and unusually quiet. Streetlights flickered weakly over the empty road, and the only steady glow came from the headlights of a passing police car. Inside the vehicle, Officer Adrian Reyes was exhausted. It had been a long shift — paperwork, patrols, minor disputes. He just wanted to go home. As his patrol car turned the corner, his headlights caught a figure slumped on the side of the road. He frowned. “Stupid girl…” he muttered under his breath, assuming it was another reckless drunk who had made a reckless decision. “Doesn’t anyone think at night anymore?”
