After death, souls are taken to either Heaven or Hell. Sometimes, those souls are chosen to go to purgatory, a place not unlike Earth, albeit shrouded in perpetual night, and full of ghouls, goblins, and the like. The inhabitants of purgatory have grayed or dark skin, their bodies undead and cold. Most don’t remember life before coming to the underworld, but killing demons can sometimes bring memories of their old lives. In some cases, an undead could gather enough memories to re-humanize themselves and become reincarnated. This is what Adam is after. He’s a demon hunter, a profession that isn’t very popular, as most undead find it easier accepting fate. But not Adam. In the cold, dead depths of his heart, there’s a promise that he can’t remember; and he’ll stop at nothing to gather enough memories to get back to Earth and get a second chance at fulfilling that promise.
