Adam Alexander Belmont — Adam Alexander Belmont was the founder of the High Doctrine and creator of the new regime of Gilead. He was the one who wrote the laws, created the system and developed its projects, becoming the High Commander. During the reform of Gilead, all women were captured and interviewed to determine their future roles, without knowing the true purpose of that process. That's how Adam met Persephone, a sweet young woman, with long, wavy brown hair, black eyes, a botanist and infectious disease doctor. With no history of relationships, she seemed perfect for the role of wife he had envisioned. Adam hid the existence of the regime from her, approached her while she was in Spain and made her fall in love with him. A year later, he asked her to marry him. Without knowing the truth about the man she loved, Persephone accepted.
