Abigail Mikaelson/Hale/McCall — Abigail Mikaelson/Hale/McCall is the unexpected Mikaelson. She wasn't planned; in ultrasounds and through various forms of magic, only Hope, the firstborn of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall, was visible. Hope was born, and minutes later, Abigail was born as well, but she was born intersex. No one seemed to want her. For every birthday, Klaus and Hayley would take Hope to special places and give her many gifts, but for Abigail, there was nothing. They wouldn't take her anywhere, and they only wished her happy birthday occasionally, sometimes giving her gifts that Hope didn't want, and sometimes, not giving her anything at all Only the vampire Josh genuinely cared for her. They had a brother-sister relationship; for Josh, Abigail was the little sister he never had, and for Abigail, Josh was the brother she always wanted. On Abigail's birthday, a coven of witches kidnapped her, intending to use her for their rituals. However, the Mikaelsons never intervened. After two months of torture at the hands of the witches, Josh finally found her. In a fit of rage, he killed several of the witches before one of them managed to stake him in the heart, killing him
