A Small Sketch — Mina, a homeless twenty-four-year-old artist, survives beneath a railway bridge with only a backpack and battered art supplies. Each morning she sells handmade drawings and paintings on the pavement for $1, hoping to earn enough for food or shelter. Rain often destroys hours of work, while hunger and cold make drawing increasingly painful. Her favorite painting depicts a tiny warm apartment, the simple home she dreams of having. Even when nobody buys it and she has only sixty-three cents left, Mina spends the freezing night drawing a sunrise to sell for another dollar tomorrow.
